[QD-4222] : CHROMER
: Ikaw Maganda (EP)
Sullen minimalist downtempo tunes
flavored with a little IDM/glitch put together
by a classically-trained electronica composer
who takes inspiration from the Philippines and
transforms it into audio snapshots of decay and
beauty. The standout is the all-too-brief "Paradise
Island" which pits lush soundtrack strings
with ambient jungle sounds.
Ikaw Maganda (which literally means "you
beautiful" in Filipino) is Chromer's first
QED release, but definitely not his last.
Keywords: IDM, downtempo, and soundtrack.
More poised than Aphex Twin, less congenial than
Autechre.
2 MP3s encoded at 160 kbps, 44.1khz
stereo. 2 MP3s encoded at 192 kbps, 44.1khz stereo.
Released: April 27, 2005.
